The Travel Agency Booked Us On A Wrong Return Flight And Get Stranded For 3 Days Will I Be Compensated?



We booked a flight to the Philippines asking the travel agency to arrange us a 3 days stay in Singapore on our way back. On the day of departure from the Philippines, we were denied to board the airplane to Singapore because they found out that our booking on that day was on a Manila bound not on a Singapore bound flight. Since there was no available flight for us, we stayed in Manila for additional 3 days and we even missed our chance to be in Singapore due to the fact that on our return flight we only have 2 hrs. in Changi Intl. Airport because we have to catch our flight back to Frankfurt. I was travelling with my wife and my 3 kids. It was very clear that the travel agency made a mistake and they even admitted it but until now they haven’t contacted me. All they give me are verbal promises that they will find a solution to compensate us for all the troubles we’ve been through. Am I entitled to claim something for the trouble they caused us? It’s a German Travel Agency in Trier.

    I feel for you. This sounds like typical sloppy TA “work”. However….
    When you got your printed itinerary(ies) from the travel agency, did you re-check all of the details and inform them about the mistake right away? If not, then you might share some responsibility in this.

    go to the travel agents in perosn and demand answers. Nothing will ever be done over the phone.
    It is a very unfortunate thing that happened and you should be compensated.
    If the travel agency still wont compensate you to a reasonable level, then take things further, the head office or even a government fair trading office (if you have those in germany)
    you should be compensated, go to the agents in person, then take things further if needed.

    Complain ,complain,complain
    R travle agent messed up our honey moon by booking a 10 day stay in Sri lanka instead of 7 so we missed 3 days of our maldives stay.
    I only comlpained once but wish i had done more.Keep all your proof and complain non stop until somthing is done.Go above your travel agent to the main office .dont let it go
    good luck.i hope you get somthing done,For all your travel agent knows you could of been due in singapore for a bussiness meeting and have now lost squillions of pounds!

    If it was the travel agency’s fault they are responsible for food, lodging , transportation, and miscellaneous (toiletries/phone calls, etc).
    Bear in mind, though, that if you could have stayed at a $180.00 a night hotel, but you stayed at one for $250.00, they will NOT reimburse you the full amount. They have a maximum amount they will pay for different cities. In other words, they will not pay for “exorbitant” expenses like a lobster dinner, alcohol,fancy hotel, etc.
    Expenses you incurred due to their negligence including your credit card bank charges are due to you, thus, reimbursable. Don’t call or email as if you are asking them for a favor, they OWE you money. Be assertive, and persistent and arm yourself with facts so that they know YOU know what you are talking about. You should have been provided with an Expense Reimbursement Report, Reimbursement Complaint Report, or something similar.
    Stick to your guns darn it, and get your money back, ALL of it!
